Hello my name is Marnie and I'm a bookaholic

I have a problem.   I love to read.  I know that is not always a problem.  The problem is that I read 4 to 5 books at a time.   Currently I am reading...

"Eat, Pray, Love" by Gilbert I hate this book, but at what page do you turn away and never pick it up again?  I keep telling myself that at some point this author will see she is selfish and grow up.

"Saving Fish From Drowning" by Amy Tan.  Love it.

"Please Pass the Scriptures" by Hilton.  I am reading this and then passing it on to Nate.

"21 Days Closer to Christ" by Freeman.  This book allows for breaks to ponder (I don't feel to bad that it is taking me more than 21 days).

"Jesus the Christ" by Talmage I will forever be reading this one.

I didn't realize that I had a problem until I went into Cameron's classroom and had a good look at his desk.  He had a pile of about 10 books and I asked him why he had so many books.  His reply
"I am reading them"
"All of them?"
"Yes, see this one I am on chapter 3, this one I just started, this one I have a chapter left..."

I have created a monster.  One good thing he can keep all the plots straight.  Another gene from me.  Maybe it is not such a problem after all.  (Mason has the same issue)

I wish I had that problem, I enjoy reading, but I usually pick up a magazine instead of a book... maybe one day I'll change.

I wish I could read more! When I get into a good book I can't put it down--and everything else is put on hold. I need a new book. I just read up on your anniversary with meeting Steve. Congrats!!! He is a good guy. :)I wish we would have seen eachother a few more times while we were in the same State! Love reading up on you guys & take care. Love, Megan

Wow, I wish I had that problem too. What a great example you are to your kids. Keep it up, except maybe like you said, one book at a time. I started reading The Biography of President Hinckley two weeks ago and I think I'm on page 21...anyway I wish I could make time to read but it seems that it's hard with little one's. How do you do it??

I am not ashamed to admit I am the same way. It was particularly difficult in college when we'd have to read many textbooks a week and I'd get really bored and needed another book to get me through it. In one class we'd read a historical book each week. This class really taught me how to read fast. I can see you have mastered the other skill I learned, which is finding the time to read when there is no time! I love it!

Now, we are forming a time to read about our religion regularly one time per week for the whole family, too. This is really important these days. Knowing the scriptures and their contents is such a blessing to me now, and I developed the habit as a child, reading scriptures as a family and later, every night.
